HSE Officer

The HSE Officer is responsible for ensuring that the DC operates in compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and food safety regulations. This role involves implementing, monitoring, and continuously improving HSE and food safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment and the safe handling, storage, and distribution of food products. The HSE Officer will also be responsible for conducting risk assessments, safety and food safety audits, and training programs for DC employees.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Ensure HSE & Food safety compliance as per UAE regulations.
  • Ensure that all food storage, handling, and distribution practices comply with food safety regulations and standards (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000)
  • Conduct regular Food safety audits, HSE Audits & Risk assessments within the Distribution center to identify and address potential risks.
  • Identify potential hazards and implement control measures to mitigate risks related to both HSE and food safety.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near-misses, and develop action plans to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and deliver HSE and food safety training programs for all employees, including induction training for new hires.
  • Promote HSE and food safety awareness and best practices throughout the distribution center.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly review the distribution center’s emergency response plan, including plans for food safety emergencies (e.g., contamination incidents).
  • Conduct regular drills and ensure all employees are trained on emergency procedures, including those specific to food safety.
  • Maintain accurate records of all HSE and food safety incidents, including detailed investigation reports.
  • Report HSE and food safety performance to senior management and recommend corrective actions.
  • Ensure proper waste management, recycling, and pollution prevention measures are in place, with special attention to food waste management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Food Safety, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3  years of experience in an HSE or food safety role, preferably in a distribution or logistics environment dealing with food products.
  • Certified in HSE practices (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) and/or food safety management (e.g., HACCP, ISO 22000) is highly desirable.

  • Ability to conduct thorough investigations and root cause analysis
